New Spring Clothes

Not for me but for Alex and the Girls.

The harnesses I bought last Fall for them were getting pretty ratty.  I decided to use the old harnesses as a pattern for making new ones from some sweet Japanese fabric I purchased recently at Sew Crafty Houston.

Aren't they cute?
Alex's has little trucks on it.
Kelis's has cupcakes

and Kimora's has chocolate hearts.

I did learn a couple of things while making these.

First off, although I hate big box stores, a 24 hour WalMart, that still carries sewing supplies, is a godsend at midnight when you run out of pre-made bias binding.  Kimora nearly did not have a harness for this morning's walk when I realized that what I thought was bias binding tape was actually hem tape.

Secondly, all Vecro is not alike.  I used the extra soft kind for these harnesses while the originals have extra-strong Velcro on them.  There really is a difference in holding power and, although I have not had any troubles keeping the harnesses on them (yet!), I will probably have to replace the wimpy stuff before too long.

Thirdly, those little screws that hold you presser plate on your sewing machine can get lost in the workings of your machine.  Even though you pick it up, turn it upside down and shake it for all it is worth the screws will not fall back out.  Fortunately I had a couple of another machine that had screws that fit.

Note to self:  buy more screws for the next time this happens.

This whole project cost me about $12.00  as most of the supplies were stash items and I re-used the fittings from the old harnesses.

Next up... new leashes.

Until then, have a good weekend!

Puppy Tales

Alex and the Girls have been driving me a little nutty over the past week or so. For your consideration I present the following tales.

Scenario One

Next to my bed is a chest of drawers. I keep several items I might need during the night in the second drawer that I keep open at night. Things like sleeping pills, asthma inhalers, handkerchiefs, cough drops and lip balm are all in a little open basket waiting to be used if needed.

Alex has decided that this is where I keep my toys and has started to steal things from it and bury them in the back yard.

I didn't realize he was doing this until the other day when I went to grab some lip balm and it wasn't in the basket. I then noticed that I was down to only one inhaler, no sleeping pills, no cough drops and only one handkerchief! After following him around outside I found all the missing items in a little cache he made for himself in a corner the yard.

No more open drawer.

"You mean you don't want this rope shredded?"

Scenario Two

My 'office' is in one of the spare bedrooms. Alex and the Girls used to drive me crazy competing with each other to sit in my lap while I work on the computer. I solved this by placing a board across the entrance to the room... short enough that I can step over it and tall enough that they can't jump over it.

Now they have decided that they can have wrestling matches outside the door while I work. I finally had had enough of all the growling, barking and running around and stepped out to lecture them on their poor behavior. All three sat down to listen to my lecture. Once I stopped they started up again. At that point I grabbed the spray bottle filled with water that I have used in the past to discipline them. All three sat again and looked at me expectantly.

Alex sat wagging his tail and looked earnestly looking at me as if to say..'I'll be good Momma. Really I will.' The girls just looked at me, no tail wagging and no remorse. Then Kemora started lecturing me! It sounded to me like she was saying..'You think your going to spray me you bitch? Fat chance. We can do whatever we want and you can't do anything about it!'.

I sprayed both Girls and they decided to go outside for more fun and games. Alex decided to stay and whine outside the 'office' until I could stop what I was doing and let him sit on my lap.

Need a substitute for the water bottle sprayer.

"You think this face needs discipline?"

Scenario Three

This morning I was sitting at the kitchen table deciding what to eat for breakfast when I noticed Alex and the Girls were very interested in some paper ont he floor of the living room. I couldn't see what it was but decided to leave them alone. I then noticed that I couldn't see the paper, or them, anymore so I decided to investigate.

One of them (Alex?) had grabbed the cereal box off the kitchen table, opened it, dragged out the inner bag, torn a hole in the inner bag and the three of them then proceeded to eat about half a large bag of Honey Nut Cheerios.

Gross! What was left was covered in doggy drool and dirt.

Need to buy more cereal!

"Of course I didn't do it!"

So there it is. Three Scenarios, all true, about Alex and the Girls and how they drive me crazy. If my son hadn't already given me grey hair, these guys would have done it for him.

You Dirty Dog!

After two days of on and off torrential rains little Miss Kelis decided to make an escape attempt to the neighbors' backyard. After much time spent digging and forcing her head through the claylike mud we call dirt around here, she did not succeed in escaping but she did succeed in getting pretty dirty.

Here is the little princess in all her glory after rubbing most of it off on my black jeans (sorry for the devil dog eyes):

I just might wait until later tonight before giving her a bath to see if she finds another spot to dig.

Why Our Dogs go on Walks

I was out walking Alex and the Girls the other evening and asked them why they like to go walking. Here is what they told me... as best as I can remember.

Alex said:

Of course I like to go walking. Here I am, right out in front of this glorious bunch of Babes. Heck, even our pack leader Alice follows behind me knowing I will protect them from every stray leaf, garbage can and scrap of paper that happens to come into our path. There's one right now. See how I carefully approach it. I sniff it thoroughly to ascertain the threat level. Having determined its evil intentions I know I have to protect the others. I immeadiatey take action, raise my rear right leg and drown it in my lethal stream. Another danger averted! Then I take my rightful place in front , ever alert to danger. I am Alex! Take that evil leaves! On to the next threat. I think I see a dead bit of grass up ahead by that mail box. Let's check it out before it can hurt you!

Kimora said:

That Alex is such a kidder. Of course we like going for walks but he is protecting us from nothing. Leaves, garbage cans and scraps of paper have nothing to do with walking. We walk so everyone can admire my beautiful black and grey dapple coat. The reason he goes first is to make sure everyone knows we are coming so suitable crowds can gather on the side of the road or path to quietly play homage to my regal beauty. The giving of treats like Greenies(TM) or softly calling 'Good Girl' are both acceptable ways of showing admiration. Of course, it hasn't happened yet, but it will, some day, I am sure of it. Until then I will walk with the wise Alice who does give treats and call me a 'Good Girl' until the rest of the world aknowledges my superior beauty and regal bearing.

Kelis said:

Those two are full of it. Alex goes first because no-one else can be bothered and my sister is just too stupid to do anything but try to catch up. I, on the other hand, do not like to take walks. The only reason I take walks is because I have to take walks. I always lag behind that task master Alice. She insists that I wear that harness thingy even though I roll over on my back showing my cute tummy, almost every time she tries to take us for a walk, hoping that she will not make me wear it. But every time she rolls me over on my feet and cinches it tight so that it doesn't come off. The ultimate indignity is that she will drag or carry me if I do not walk. Dragging hurts my tender feet and if Alice carries me then all the other dogs (especially that dork Alex) laugh at me. So yes, I do take walks. After all, I don't need walks when I spend most of the day patrolling the back yard looking for places to dig under the fence so I can play in the creek or explore the other backyards in the neighborhood. Oops! Forget that part. I never dig under the fence. Nope, never ever, not even this afternoon into Joe's yard. Not me. Definitely some other ten pound black and tan Dachshund with lots of dirt under her nails.

So that's it. Human's walk dogs in part so that they know their way home while dogs walk for many different reasons.

Enjoy the rest of your week.

Dogs on Thursday...

On Wednesday.

So I'm early by one day, for once. Don't know how that happened but the stars were aligned correctly in the sky and I just had to share this before I accidently erased the pics from my camera.

Once a year Alex and the Girls go to the Vet for their annual shots and examinations. Alex goes in June and the Girls in August.

They actually all go to the appointmemts but just the scheduled ones get the full treatment. The Girls had theirs last week and passed with flying colors. Because of thier sensitivities vis-a-vis the many vaccines they are required to have, the rabies shots has been postponed for three weeks. Both the Girls have had muscle and skin damage from previous Rabies shots and I hope we can avoid that by spacing them out from the other shots.

Any way, I like for them all to get new colllars concurrent with their annual exams. As I am fed up with Alex's inability to enter a pet store without making a grab for a toy that he will destroy in about 20 mintues I decided to go on my own to find new collars. In two out of three cases I think I made good choices.

Here's is Alex's new, celtic knot patterned, ribbon covered, collar:

Kimora's new, cute, bone patterned, riboon covered, collar:
and here's Kelis's old, ratty red collar.

Ooops! Fatso Kelis (she had gained two ounces since last year's weigh-in when she was already 6 ounces over weight) didn't fit into the little red collar I had purchased for her that I was going to cover with some cute floral ribbon. Her neck is just too thick! I'll have to get her the next larger size.

As a consolation prize, I made them all new leashes and added the little bit of the cute floral ribbon I had for Kelis's collar to her leash. At least now I can distinquish her leash and attached red harness from Kimora's leash and red harness. If you like the idea of making your own leashes, just take the hardware off of your old leash and sew on new nylon webbing like that sold at J. Caroline Creative on sale for $25.00 for 50+ yards! While I was buying collars I also picked up the jumbo box of Teenie Greenies, thier favorite treat that I don't eat. Their other favorites are leftover cereal milk and peanut butter. I also picked up a package of Bully Bones. Bully Bones are supposed to be better for your dogs than rawhide treats. Alex and the Girls love them and they are the one long lasting chew thingy that all three will actually chew without getting into fights. I am a bit sqeamish about them as I have been told they are the part of the bull that make a bull a bull. Ewww! On the other hand, ... well, I'll just let you use your imagination with this additional fact... I am divorced. Okay?
Here's Alex enjoying his Bully Bone on the stairs earlier today. I hope your week has been going well. For those Mom's who are on the road today delivering thier children to college for the first time please remember this ... DO NOT turn the kid's bedroom into a spa until they are into their third year at college, at the earliest. Just a word to the wise.

Dogs on Thursday... Sort of

Alex and the Girls joined me this morning when I was trying to get pictures of my recent forays into knitting.
First up are the two little baby hats I made out of left over sock yarn. Here's a shot of them with Kelis trying to hog the spot light.
The pattern is super simple and is a variation on a pattern published by Black Purl Patterns called Sock it to Me Baby. The variation I used was to make it in the round rather than using straight needles as in the pattern so I did not have to mess with joining a seam or purling half the stiches in the body of the hat. What I particullary liked was the finishing for the top of the hat. Instead of just joining the remaining stitches with the last of the yarn and burying the yarn in the hat, this pattern has you continue at the top of the hat into a three stitch I-Cord for a couple of inches, bury the remaining yarn into the cord and tie the cord into a knot. Very cute and very clever for a very neat finish.

Alex and Kemora had to try on these hats but really didn't like their ears gathered up in the hat. So Cute! (okay, so they look like they are being totured but still pretty cute)

I really meant to take pictures of the latest socks...8 & 9 respectively. Finally, after four pairs of socks using the same pattern, I completed a pair that have exacty the same number of rows for the legs and feet as well as I followed all of the instructions for the heels, gussetts and toes. The yarn was from J. Knits super wash wool sock yarn dyed in a color they called Rhode Island. They are super soft and comfy and washed and machine dryed beautifully.
And here are some shots of Alex and the Girls looking to get their pictures taken. For some reason I can never get them to pose nicely, instead they like to position themselves mid-frame to lick themselves, sniff the camera or look yearningly for, another, belly scratch.

My Little Thief

Does he look guilty?

Once again Alex has astounded me with his ability to get what he wants. For example:

Earlier today I purchased a new bag of food for the Alex and the Girls. When it came time to carry it into the house I realized that I had bought the big kibble size, rather than the preferred, small kibble size. Since the team had been locked up for many hours today, I decided to take them to the store with me to exchange the bag. The exchange went quickly and they got lots of loving from the sales clerks. On the way back to the car I noticed a little stuffed lime green ball on the ground. I asked the clerk, who was carrying the bag of dog food to the car, where it had come from and he replied "The brown one had it".

All became clear.
In the few minutes it took to exchange the dog food, Alex had found a toy and STOLE it from the store.
I apologized profusely and offered to pay for it. The clerk was more amused than angry at the theft and told me it was on the house.
The toy? Well, after several hours of chasing it and making me play fetch his way, the remains are on the floor near my desk all but forgotten while he begs for belly scratching.
Glad I didn't pay for this one!

Cuddling Up

When I am working on the computer or sewing, the dogs sometimes are so tired that they will leave me alone for minutes at a time. When they are that tired they pile into the comfy rocking chair where they can monitor me and still get some shut-eye. They are pretty cute all piled in together, sometimes under a quilt, ignoring my sightest movement. Unfortunately, that doesn't last very long.

As an example, today I tried to get a picture of them all snuggled up together, instead I got this...
They don't look real happy and snuggly to me... but trust me, it does happen at least once or twice a week.

I hope your week is going well. After a few days of near freezing weather in the mornings, it has started to heat up again and I am now really looking forward to the Sewng Guild's garage sale this Friday and Saturday. Dollar-a-Yard fabric... here I come!

Three Times Longer

I was in Petsmart today picking up Greenies for the crew when I saw a cute Loofa style toy that said it would last three times longer than other Loofa style toys. Since I had a coupon I thought I would try it out. The last Loofa style toy I bought for Alex lasted about fifteen minutes so anything that lasts more than that is not a bad buy in my book. Well, its about nine hours later and that thing is still, more or less, intact.

Here's the link to the product at Petsmart. I got the one that looks like a cow.

Here's what it looks like now:

The head is empty of stuffing, so is the butt and the legs. The ears, horns and tail are gone. The rough stuff on the outside of the body and the little black heart shaped spots that made this such a cute toy are scattered all over the house.

This toy gets a qualified thumbs up. It has lasted but I had to disembowel it a lttle while ago to remove the squeaker thing before Alex could find it. I did put all the stuffing back, and then some, so he should stay amused for a couple of more hours tomorrow.

I just wish these doggie toys were more durable without sqeakers!

Doggie Cam

As I mentioned yesterday a friend got me a Pet Cam for Christmas and I just had to try it out immeadiately. Here is what Alex saw today:

A pile of fabric scraps:
Ginger out the bathroom window:
More ginger outside the bathroom window:
Ceiling watching:
Most of the pictures were of the wall of the bathtub while he was sleeping while I was out.
So this is Alex's exciting life - staring at things we never pause to see. I think I should tidy up my quilt scraps before I let hm have it again.
Have a good weekend!

New Duds

I try to walk the dogs at least twice a day when they are here. Sometimes that may mean just making it to the end of the driveway, other times we explore the whole neighborhood. One thing that can make these walks unpleasant is when one of the dogs slips his or her collar. This drives me nuts as I try to keep the collars snug enough that they won't slip them BUT my darling son insists on keeping the collars loose enough that you can pass a small Mac truck between the collar and their neck without any constriction. Instead of continuing to grumble I decided to buy them all harnesses for their walks.

I was hesitant to do this as when Alex was rescued the vet reported that he was in a harness and it had grown into his skin. YUCK! I tried him on one earlier and although he tolerated it quite well it just didn't fit right. This time I decided to go to some experts. The staff at Pampered Paws in Kingwood were absolutely terrific with the three terrors. Kimora slipped her collar immeadiately on entering the store while Alex became completely attached to a fuzzy pink pillow. Kelis just wanted to go home.

Here they are in the front hall with their new Dogo brand harnesses:
By the way... their leashes are hanging off the top hinge of my front door.... a great place to store their leashes and a great way to corral them in until I get everyone ready for a walk.

These are great accessories and do not restrict their movement in any way. I also like the idea that there is a quick release clasp so its relatively easy to get the harnesses on and off. The added bonus is that this is a better way for them to walk without damaging their backs. I am particularly pleased that these appear to be easy to repair if they become damaged. And, as if this is not enough, the harnesses work perfectly with thier winter coats.

By the way - if you have a dog and want a wierd gift... more for yourself than them... then check this out. A dear friend gave me one of these for Christmas and Alex is trying it out right now. I hope I get some fun shots!

A winter walk

I got them all dressed up this morning for their walk although, I must admit, that I waited until the sun was up before venturing out. The Girls were not hindered by their coats and performed admirably. Alex, on the other hand, decided that wearing a sweater was just not manly enough for him and finally refused to move until I removed the offending garment.

Winter cuteness -
Winter misery -
The Girls in their Sunday Best - And although Ike was over three months ago this sight is not uncommon in my area.

Nap Time

When I am working at the sewing machine or on the laptop, I really, really hate the puppies trying to get into my lap to lick my face or curl up in my crotch. I really, really like when they find a place to curl up nearby that does not mean I have to watch where I am rolling/stepping. I have come up with one solution for when I am working on the laptop.

Instead of hoping they will find a place to perch I gave them a place to perch near the desk. I took about half a towel from a previous project, serged the open ends closed except for about four inches on one side. Filled the whole thing with scraps I was saving for shelter dog beds, sewed up the gap and Volia! my puppies have a place to hang out when I am on the laptop. Check it out:
There is just one problem, there is a period of about twenty mintues of 'king of the mountain' type activity before they settle down. In the picture above I have no idea who won the battle as they kept changing places every half hour or so.
I must apologize to the shelter dogs, but I need my scraps for my own use right now. Next batch is yours - promise!

Bohdi Boy

While I was in Canada last week I had a wonderful visit with my niece. I got to meet her big puppy that I have heard many tales about. Bohdi is a Heinz 57 dog that she picked up from a pet shop over a year ago. He is eighteen months old now and still acts like a brand new puppy. He was so happy to get a visitor that he did all his tricks for me including jumping up on me, trying to be a lap dog and continuing the destruction of his toy box. The latter was pretty funny. His toy box is actually a plastic milk crate and he kept trying to break off more pieces of it by chewing on it and shaking it around. Bits kept falling off but he ignored them for more destruction. Apparently he has been doing this for a while and still has not brought it to its knees in submission. Although he has many soft toys, the old milk crate seems to be his favorite.

Here is a picture of this good boy -
and here is a picture of his toy pile.
I was glad to see that Alex is not the only one who enjoys disemboweling his toys!

It was a good visit as it was nice to spend time with my niece. Its tough to reconcile the tiny tot I remember spending time with many years ago with the blond Amazon Warrior babe she has become. I always wanted to be tall, blond, thin and rich - nice to see that one of the family has achieved at least three of my four goals!

The Tale of The Pink Leather Gloves

As many of you know, Alex, loves chasing his rubber balls. My son got him a red rubber kong ball and it was love at first sight. He cannot stay still while the red ball is anywhere on the property. He is either chasing it, licking it, chewing it or chasing it as long as its around. He is especially adept at rolling the ball under the couch. He then whines and crys and struggles to flatten himslef out to retrieve the ball. I, also known as the Lady of the Long Arms, will eventually stop what I am doing and retireve it for him. Sometimes it takes all of three minutes for him to push it back under the couch.

Sometimes I get very weary of it all and I will hide the ball from him. Cruel, but my boney knees really hate the ceramic tile floor. Even when hidden in a drawer with red pepper sauce wiped on the handle, the red ball calls to Alex and he wil cry and whine until I distract him with food or a walk.

So much for background... here are the details of the Pink Leather Gloves.

One day last week I had hidden the red ball in the drawer with the red pepper sauce on the handle. The sauce was to hide the smell in hope that he would not smell out the ball. It was time for bed and although I had already put the Girls to bed he was still cryng by the drawer. The poor guy had bags under his eyes he was so tired. I went to pick him up and he tried to bite my hand. I tried again and he tried agan.

This was getting serious, he was so obsessed that he was getting this crazed, ferral look in hs eye. I thought I could calm him down and get him to bed if I could pick him up, tickle his belly and carry him to bed. I was afraid he might try another nip at my hand so I went for the first gloves I could find. I put them on and as I approached him he went total passive, crawling on his belly to me in abject sorrow. I picked him up, tickled his belly, told him I loved him and put him to bed.

Since then, the gloves have been sitting on an end table and every time he sees them he becomes completely passive crawling on his belly asking forgiveness . . . . from the gloves!.

So that is the tale of the Pink Leather Gloves. I don't know why they make him so passive because I can't believe the his previous owner would have hurt him with pink gloves but you never know. Anyway, here is a picture of them with the object of his affection.
I hope your week has been going well and the cool down around the country has reached your neck of the woods. I know I am ready for jeans and sweater weather!

A Good One

I just got this in the mail from Ms. Judy. After the past couple of days of fighting with Alex about his FIVE balls (not those kind of balls but the ones that go boucing under the furniture to be rescued by the lady with the long arms) I really needed this one. Enjoy!

How many dogs does it take to change a light bulb?

1. Golden Retriever: The sun is shining, the day is young, we've got our whole lives ahead of us, and you're inside worrying about a stupid burned out bulb?

2. Border Collie: Just one. And then I'll replace any wiring that's not up to code.

3. Dachshund: You know I can't reach that stupid lamp!

4. Rottweiler: Make me.

5. Boxer: Who cares? I can still play with my squeaky toys in the dark.

6. Lab: Oh, me, me!!!!! Pleeeeeeeeeze let me change the light bulb! Can I? Can I? Huh? Huh? Huh? Can I? Pleeeeeeeeeze, please, please, please!

7. German Shepherd: I'll change it as soon as I've led these people from the dark, check to make sure I haven't missed any, and make just one more perimeter patrol to see that no one has tried to take advantage of the situation.

8. Jack Russell Terrier: I'll just pop it in while I'm bouncing off the walls and furniture.

9. Old English Sheep Dog: Light bulb? I'm sorry, but I don't see a light bulb!

10. Cocker Spaniel: Why change it? I can still pee on the carpet in the dark.

11. Chihuahua : Yo quiero Taco Bulb. Or "We don't need no stinking light bulb."

12. Greyhound: It isn't moving. Who cares?

13. Australian Shepherd: First, I'll put all the light bulbs in a little circle...

14. Poodle: I'll just blow in the Border Collie's ear and he'll do it. By the time he finishes rewiring the house, my nails will be dry.

How many cats does it take to change a light bulb?

Cats do not change light bulbs. People change light bulbs. So, the real question is:

"How long will it be before I can expect some light, some dinner, and a massage?"
ALL OF WHICH PROVES, ONCE AGAIN, THAT WHILE DOGS HAVE MASTERS, CATS HAVE STAFF!
Sorry dog lovers but I just couldn't resist passing this along.
Next week - The Tale of the Pink Leather Gloves.

Routine

One of the things I keep hearing is that it is important for all of us to get back into our normal routines after Ike. My routine, at least in the morning, is centered around Alex and the Girls. Here's how it goes:

  1. All dogs rousted out of bed and put outside for morning ablutions.
  2. All dogs fed.
  3. All dogs watered.
  4. All dogs walked.
  5. All dogs take a nap waiting for MILK.
  6. The source of MILK (me) messes around with morning meds and food.
  7. All dogs rush to lap up every drop of MILK.
  8. All dogs take a nap.

Number 5 is not completely accurate. They are not really napping... more like leisurely waiting. Alex sits on his pillow, Kemora takes the high road and sits on the top of the comfy chair while Kelis snuggles under a quilt on the comfy chair. I think Kelis trusts the others to alert her to when milk is available. Here they are waiting for the milk from my cereal bowl.

Here they are getting up every last drop.

Here they are settling in for some serious napping. Alex is on top of the comfy chair while Kelis and Kemora go for snuggling together. That little black triangle is Kelis's butt.

And before anyone says it... I know dogs can be lactose intolerant. I did an experiment to see if the quality of the air here would change a lot by not giving the dogs milk for a week. Nope, it made no difference at all ... their sleeping quarters still came up stinky.

I hope everyone is having a good week especially for my fellow residents of the third coast.

Meet Kimora

Alex is always in the spotlight and Kelis got her day on the blog so now its Kimora's turn. In fact, that is how it is around here most of the time. Kelis is always insertng herself into my vision and Alex is always there... within inches of where I am. Kimora, on the other hand just hopes you notice her. She is very submissive except when it comes to treats and food - then she lectures me unceasingly until I feed her hunger. Its actually quite funny. I will call them to eat and Kimora walks just ahead of me lecturing me on how I am not fast enough and that no-one desires treats or food more than she does. She will even steal edibles from Kelis... and Kelis lets her! That's partly why she is the biggest of the bunch at sixteen pounds. She really is a big girl but the vet tells me she is not overweight just big.

The oddest thing about Kimora is that she lets the others do anything to her.. excessive licking, pseudo sexual stroking and pushing her off the comfy chair. It takes a lot before Kimora will get mad and retaliate. Alex particularly tortures her by denying her a chance to chew the latest toys. Even when presented with multiple squeaky balls, that are exactly identical, Kimora will sit around and moan until Alex looses interest.

She is not a complete wimp. She is the only Dachshund I know that can catch full grown birds. Yes, the sweet and gentle one of the bunch will catch and kill a bird in about a minute. I have to keep my eyes open when she is out and any birds are around. I am thankful she can't catch squirrels. There are so many around here that I would be picking up little bodies all the time.
Here are some cute shots:
Just after she came to live with us:
Exhausted puppies!
If this face doesn't say "I don't want to go out" I don't know what does! t was raining that day and she really hates being in the rain.
Such a soft belly!
This afternoon under my desk - note the uncomfortable postion of her rear leg. It doesn't seem to bother her at all as long as we are near each other.
